A bush chain is very similar to the roller chain. Nevertheless, it does not have friction – reducing rollers and is usually thus appropriate rather for lower generating speeds. The permitted standard movement speeds of the slow-running bush chains range from 0.3 m/sec to at least one 1.2 m/sec, with no more than 3.0 m/sec. Bush chains are most frequently found in applications requiring continuous procedure under coarse working conditions as well as operation in warm and humid environment where the use of belt drives would be inappropriate.
